Kausani Hill Station

There are few places in the Himalayas range which can compare with the beauty of Kasusani. Kausani Hill station is mainly popular for its splendid scenic view of the pristine Himalayas and is a major tourist spot. It is spread over an area of 5.2 sq km and an altitude of around 1890 m and is almost 52 km North of Almora. The magnificent peaks of Panchchuli, Nanda Devi and Trisul offer a panoramic 300 km wide view of the Himalayas. Kausani was originally called Valna. Kasauni the birth place of the Famous poet Sumitra Nandan is generally referred as the “Switzerland of India”.  Kausani is locating atop a crest surrounded by dense growth of Pine trees. In 1929, Mahatma Gandhi spent 12 days here and brought his thoughts out in his book called Anasakti Yoga. Where he lived the place is called the Anasakti Ashram. This Ashram was earlier the guest house in a tea estate.  Kausani hill station is perfect to visit with the family. Because of its magnificent nature, tourists come here whole year. 

SIGHT SEEING

Pant Museum

Museum named after the famous Indian poet, Sumitra Nandan Pant, who was born in Kausani, in the Museum are displayed his daily use articles, drafts of his letters, poems and awards etc. the Museum is located at a short distance from the Kausani bus terminal.

Lakshmi Ashram

Lakshmi Ashram 1 km off from the Anasakti Ashram, this place is a centre run by Sarla Behen. Gandhiji’s admirer, Sarala Behen spent her whole life here doing social service. This ashram is placed in a solitary area in a dense jungle.

Kumaon Shawl Emporium:

An amazing collection of high quality woollen shawls, gracefully designed by the local weavers, can be purchased from here. 

Chaukori

Chaukori 87 kms from Kausani, a beautiful tourist spot between mighty Himalayan peaks.

Baijnath

Most important historical place in Uttarakhand, situated at a height of 1126 meters above sea level on the banks of River Gomti. The Baijnath temple was built thousands of years ago Main attractions are the temples of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahama with beautiful carvings and sculptures.

Pinakeshwar

Pinakeshwar is the famous trekking area at Kausani. Its 9050 feet above sea level, this is 20 kms away from Kausani. Here is a holy place of Shiva from where one can view many valleys. In the province of Pinakeshwar are other places similar to old Pinakeshwar, Gopalkot, Huria etc.

The climate of Kausani is good and it offers hygienic environment. Kausani can be visit anytime of the year. If you want to see greenery then visit from July to mid September. Kausani is covered with the sheets of snow from December to mid February.

How to Reach

By Air: The airport nearest to Kausani is at Pantnagar, at a distance 178 km.

By Rail:
The railway station at Kathgodam is the nearest railhead to Kausani at a distance of 142 km.

By Road: Kausani is well connected to several other hill resorts by roads like Almora, Ranikhet, Pithoragarh, Gwaldam and Nainital.

There are so many of us who likes traveling to the marrow of our souls and keep on visiting new, beautiful and adventurous  places every now and then. Adventures in Uttrakhand

The Valley of Flowers

Over  500 species of wild flowers, The Valley of Flowers is a part of Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks World Heritage Site. Distance over an area of 87.50 km², the valley offers beautiful and significant landscapes, flowers, lush green valleys and freshwater streams.

Skiing slopes in Auli

Auli is popular  for its skiing slopes present some of the national and international level skiing championships every year. Besides Skiing, the 4.5 km ropeway from Joshimath to Auli is another attraction for the visitants. The trekking to nearby Gurso Bugyal is worth discovering offering a closer view of Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Drongiri.

Trek to Hemkund Sahib 

Hemkund Sahib is a one of the most popular Sikh pilgrimage center, 19 km challenging trek from Govindghat to the Hemkund lake, Thousand of devotees come whole year. The full trek from Ghangharia to Hemkund offers scenic views  and several kinds of wildflowers including the State Flower of Uttarakhand - Brahamkamal.

Joshimath is the base for trekking to the famous valley of flowers. The best time to visit Joshimath and for the trip is from mid July till end-august.

Almora

Almora is famous for its wonderful beauty, panoramic view of the Himalayas, rich culture, unique handcrafts, and delicious cuisine. The scenic view and famous pilgrim destination of Almora attracts hundreds of tourists each year. Chitai (Golu Devta ) Nanda Devi temple are famous temples of Almora.
